1883   Born in Pribram
1898   First apprenticeship with Antonin Mattas as local photographer
1901- 03   Studies at the "Lehr-und Versuchsanstalt für Photographie" (Education and   
                    Research Insitute for Photography)  in Munich
1903 – 04   Photographic assistant at Schumann´s photographic studio Karlsruhe
1907 - 10   First own photographic studio in Pribram
1910 - 11   Opening of first photo studio in Prague
1918   After World War I returns to his studio and drafts a proposal for a school for      
            photography in Prague
1920   Marries dancer Ervina Kupferova
1921   His child Ervina is born
1923   Drtikol starts his finest artistic period and starts to use wooden decoration 
             influenced by Futurism and Cubism
1924   Starting to take greater interest in Buddhism
 
1925   Wins the Grand Prix at the "Exposition international des arts decoratifs et            
            industriels  modernes" in Paris
1926   Divorces Ervina Kupferova
1927-29   Solo exhibition of Drtikols work in various cities in the United States
1929   Drtikol´s monograph "Les nude de Drtikol" with a text by Claude de Santeul is
             published in Paris 
1930   Dritkol no longer photographs live models for his own creative works
1931   Solo exhibition at Brooklyn Institute of Arts and Science, New York
1935   Starts to sell his studio and rents a villa in the outskirts of Prague and devotes 
            himself to the studies of Buddhism and Taoism
1938   Eduard Beaufort publishes "Zena ve svelte (Woman in light)"
1942   Marries former assistant Jarmila Rambouskova
1945   Becomes associate professor at the School of Graphic Arts in Prague
1955   After being prohibited for a long time Drtikol´s photographs are published in the 
            magazine "Ceskoslovenska fotografie(Czechoslovak Photography)"
1961   Drtikol died in Prague

1896   Born in Skutec, youth spent in Kolin. Interested in photography from a young 
            age; studied law, medicine, aesthetics
1924   Founded the Czech Photographic Society with Josef Sudek and Adolf 
            Schneeberger
1924   Funke´s "After the Carnival“ fully expressed Constructivist composition, 
            emphazising the diagona
1926   First exhibition of the Czech Photographic society
1930   Began working on surrealist series "Time persists"
1930-1931   Photographic series "Bad living"
1931-1935   Taught at Bratislava School of Arts and Crafts
1935   Exhibition in Krasna jizba Druzstevni prace in Prague
1935-1944   Taught at State School of Graphic Arts in Prague
1935   Together with Ladislav Sutha published Fotografie vidí povrch
